Far Cry Primal is the first Ubisoft game with Denuvo. The copy protection works hand in hand with DRM software.
The action games Far Cry Primal and Rise of the Tomb Raider will use the copy Denuvo. The reported DSOGaming. Denuvo is not a stand-alone protection, but works with DRM software like Steam, Uplay or Origin.
That Ubisoft first Denuvo uses with Far Cry Primal, can be read in the EULA. There also is that Denuvo could remain on the PC after uninstalling:
"THE PRODUCT IS BY A SOFTWARE FOR DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT ("DRM SOFTWARE"() AND DENUVO ANTI-TAMPER PROTECTION TECHNOLOGY"ANTI-TAMPER TECHNOLOGY") PROTECTED.
CERTAIN FILES OF ANTI-TAMPER TECHNOLOGY MAY REMAIN ON YOUR COMPUTER, EVEN AFTER THE PRODUCT FROM YOUR COMPUTER HAS BEEN UNINSTALLED."
It was recently announced that the action game The Division is also expected to focus on Denuvo. While Ubisoft So first used the copy, Square Enix carries on well in Rise of the Tomb Raider.
