The graphics card is the heart of every gaming PCs. We recommend the best Geforce and Radeon graphics cards in three different price ranges.
Due to the continued mining by the hype cryptocurrency Ethereum many popular graphics cards are still poorly available and much more expensive than they were a few months. are particularly affected the middle-class graphics card Radeon RX 570 and RX 580 AMD.
This situation presents players who desperately need a new GPU, with a difficult choice: pay more money for the same product or wait and hope that prices will tumble. When exactly the situation relaxes again, but still difficult to estimate, even the manufacturers themselves can plus give any details.
In the case of the GTX 1060 also affected the situation has eased considerably, many models are available sufficient again and the prices have fallen well below 300 euros. Offers for initially traded around 250 euros graphics card are available with as of early November 2017 again.
Who wonders what a cryptocurrency at all and what it is all about with the current mining hype, we recommend our review article: crypto Mining - What is it and how does it work?
added new graphics card buying advice we have the recently released high-end graphics card Geforce GTX 1070 Ti Nvidia. On page 4 of our buying guides You can find the Pascal-novice who submits itself when it comes to gaming performance between 1070 and GTX GTX 1080th
The 1070 Ti is both the reference design (Founders Edition) as well as from other manufacturers as Custom Design sold with lush coolers. However, Nvidia limits the chip clock rate, so it (yet) OC models of GTX exist 1070 Ti. Interested buyers have to raise the clock speed manually, the manufacturers are trying to circumvent the timing margin by using nvidia own OC-profile - a factory overclocked 1070 Ti but (as usual from other models) do not exist.
Currently GTX-1070-Ti models are a bit expensive and to get only a few dealers. The price of at least 470 EUR, we believe a bit too high, so we would rather tend to GTX 1080, which is already available from 500 euros and faster in games.
"Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 Ti in the test
Our graphics cards ranking 2017 brings overview when comparing the countless Geforce and Radeon models with benchmarks from popular PC games. The many different model numbers for AMD and Nvidia are more confusing than helpful - here is intended to provide an overview and facilitate the selection of our graphics cards buying guides for PC gamers. However, the range can be narrowed somewhat in advance.
If you build a brand new computer, you must first of all define the budget. Here you can be oriented to the rule of thumb you roughly that the graphics card should make up about one third of the total value of a gaming PC. So your provides reasonably sure that the individual components do not thwart each other.
In general you should consider when upgrading a graphics card that the performance of the graphics card is not limited by a possibly weak processor and the monitor fits this - you play any case only on a full HD screen, it does not need outrageously expensive graphics card, except your always want more than 60 fps.
Graphics cards ranking
To classify each model in the graphics card ranking, we use in our benchmark system an Intel Core i7 7700K, we run at the default maximum clock rates. The processor is thanks to the high clock of its four cores and the ability to process eight threads simultaneously late to a potential bottleneck. i7 of 7700K with a Noctua NH-D15 is cooled.
The ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero with Z270 chipset is equipped with 16.0 GB DDR4-2400 RAM from G.Skill, which we operate with the proven Intel clock speed of 2,400 MHz. Current provides a be quiet! Powerzone power supply with 1,000 watts. On the software side, we rely on Windows 10 (64 bit), the applications and games are on a 480 GByte SSD Crucial BX200 and a Toshiba OCZ RD400 installed.
For the Games measurements, the graphics card has four DX11-, a DX12- and a volcano benchmark game show (Battlefield 1, Doom, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Total War: Warhammer, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Watch Dogs 2). All mentioned title we test with the highest preset including anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering sixteen-fold - the average yields of our graphics cards ranking in 2017, new Geforce or Radeon models appear we extend the graphics card comparison accordingly.
The measured power consumption refers to the entire system, the temperatures are determined using the MSI Afterburner under typical game load. Our volume measurements are carried out in a sound-proofed room with a Voltcraft SL200. The measuring instrument is at a distance of 50 cm, placed obliquely to the graphics card and the open test system.
