The SCUF Impact controller provides the test many options for customization, optical-to-see our review unit here is thus only one example of many. Justify the flexibility the comparatively high price?
The SCUF Impact controller for the PlayStation 4 and PC wants to score in the test, especially with its many customization options: From interchangeable analog sticks on the adjustable resistance of the trigger buttons to four removable paddle shifters (also "Paddles" called) on the back has to offer the Impact loads of extras.
That makes him popular with pro gamers in Esports area, but the extensive individualization can also prove to be for the average Joe players in handy. In the test, we find out how well they are implemented and whether processing and precision of SCUF Impact controller agree.
Prototype Dual Shock controller 4
Basically, the Impact is based on clear design of the DualShock 4 controller from Sony. The two analog sticks are therefore located next to each other and the directional pad on the left side opposite the fire buttons.
In comparison with the dual Hock controller of the Sony SCUF Impact is about 20 grams heavier and slightly larger, which slightly improves handling.
There are also the familiar touchpad in the middle, the small speaker below and the light bars on the top and back. Which no more than the key function of the touchpad can with PC games but usually are used on, for example, opens the card in Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Good news: The SCUF Impact is slightly larger than the Dual Shock controller, which appeals to us especially the additional area to the side handles. It weighs the same time only about 20 grams higher.
A controller, a thousand possibilities
The Impact is to have Scufgaming.com many optical variants from 140 euros in Germany Roxxgames.de is the exclusive distributor. Compared to other models such as the Infinity Pro, it differs primarily by four instead of only two shift paddles on the back. Buyer of Impact on the SCUF website you can also optionally select the following customization options to:
- adapted analog sticks (convex or concave, short or long) with a rubberized surface in different colors
- customizable trigger buttons (short or long, resistance and length of the release path changed) in different colors
- Cover for the digital pad in black or white
- New use for the four paddles on the back by electromagnet
- Waiver of the Rumble feature
Removable analog sticksConvex vs. concave & short vs. long&# 8203;
With the right to be seen "tool" we can open the retaining ring around the analog sticks and then remove with a relatively strong pull from the anchor to exchange them for new models.
Alternatively, analog sticks are available in two different lengths with convex or concave-shaped (and rubber) interface for selecting which provide really good support and high precision.
As if that were not enough, also can be the color of the following items change on request:
- Color of front
- Color non-slip surface on the back
- Color of the buttons (fire button, D-pad, start and options)
- Color of the shoulder buttons
- Color of the retaining rings for the (replaceable) analog sticks
The relevant in terms of handling changing opportunities we present in more detail in the images of this article. How good it generally plays with the SCUF Impact, we clarify below.
On the back there are four removable paddle shifters that can take over the function of other keys. This allows, for example in a shooter to move with one analog stick and aim with the other stick while jumping via paddles. The two inner rockers are however not so easy to reach and operate reliably only with exercise. also for the trigger buttons there is an additional, extra-long version, which is intended for people with large hands.
